Biographical History

(For history of the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA), see OCLC #38922091.) LCUSA's Division of Public Relations was established in 1967 at the Council's founding. In 1973, the Division of Public Relations was renamed the Office of Communication and Interpretation. The News Bureau, an unit under both the Division and its successor Office, prepared and distributed news releases regarding LCUSA activities and interests and feature articles of Lutheran interest to the mass media. News Bureau Directors included Erik W. Modean, Neil B. Mellblom, Thomas H. Dorris, and Daniel J. Cattau. Lambert F. Brose served as associate director of the News Bureau in the LCUSA Office in Washington, D.C. The LCUSA was terminated in 1987 at the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
