Biographical History
Artist Ross Stefan arrived in Tucson in 1949. While still in high school, he sold pen-and-ink drawings to the Arizona Daily Star. He went on to become a prominent Western artist.
Hampden-Sydney College, founded in 1776 and formally chartered in 1783, was named for John Hampden and Algernon Sydney, English patriots and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Synod of Virginia.
David Smith was one of the original members of the Union Society, a literary society begun at Hampden-Sydney College in 1789.
