Biographical History
Timothy Baker was born in Northampton, Massachusetts, on August 5, 1787. Baker established a tannery in New York and moved to Norwalk, Ohio, in 1819. There, he became prominent as associate justice of the peace and leader of a local Masonic lodge. Baker married Eliza Remington, and the couple had six children, including William and Timothy, Jr. Baker died on January 27, 1878.
Ichabod Marshall was born in 1769 in Hanover, New Hampshire, and became a prosperous merchant in Norwalk, Ohio, in the early 1800s. Marshall graduated from Dartmouth College in 1790, and moved to Ohio around 1817, where he established the Norwalk Manufacturing Company and served as county surveyor and recorder. A lifelong bachelor, Marshall died on March 4, 1849.
