Biographical History
Christine Terhune Herrick was a prolific writer of cookbooks and works on home economics. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, and educated by private tutors and, later, studied in Europe. She taught briefly before her marriage, and was encouraged by her mother and husband to write books on domestic matters; her first article was published in the premier issue of Good Housekeeping. A productive and influential writer, she wrote numerous books and articles about household management and promoting a wife's role as her husband's business partner.
