Biographical History

Louis Thomas Yarbrough (1873 - 1951) was a member of the first graduating class at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) in 1893, and presented his thesis titled "Water Wheel Construction" for the completion of a bachelor's degree in education. He was a United States postal inspector for more than 37 years. His daughter, Mary Yarbrough, graduated from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) in 1927, becoming one of the school's first women graduates.
