Biographical History

Evangelistic organization; founded in 1957; based in Pittsburgh; functioned to coordinate Kuhlman's evangelistic/healing services and television and radio broadcasts; also funded mission projects around the world; continued coordinating broadcasts following Kuhlman's death, 1976-1982; continued ministry on reduced scale, 1982- Kathryn Johanna Kuhlman was born on May 9, 1907; internationally known as a healing evangelist; converted in 1921; first participated in revival meetings, 1923; first preaching opportunity, 1928; had evangelistic ministry primarily in Idaho, Colorado, Iowa, 1928-ca. 1940; re-established her ministry in Franklin, Pennsylvania, 1946; initiated healing ministry following effects from a series of sermons on the Holy Spirit, 1947; began preaching on radio and expanded her ministry to neighboring cities, 1948; relocated ministry to Pittsburgh, 1950; expanded schedule of regular services to include Los Angeles, 1965-1975; began regular television broadcast on CBS, 1965; ordained by the Evangelical Church Alliance, 1968; toured mission hospital and military bases in Vietnam, 1970; incorporated numerous cities in her service itinerary, 1970-1975; died on February 20, 1976.
