Biographical History

Marshall Almaron Dimick and his twin sister Marsha A., were the ninth and tenth children of Joseph Dimick (1801-1877) and Roxanna (Lewis) Dimick (1801-1876). They were born in Bridgewater, Vermont, on June 19, 1840. Marshall A. Dimick enlisted in Company A of the 9th Vermont Regiment, on August 9, 1864. Two days later, he married Mary A. (Pinney) Spaulding (1821-1893) of Bridgewater. Dimick mustered out of the Civil War on June 13, 1865. His marriage to Mary did not last. Mary married Marshall's brother Myron on January 16, 1878. On January 1, 1878, Marshall married Sarah Eastman Gove, the widow of Thomas G. Gove (1829-1867). That marriage also did not last; the 1900 census shows Marshall, divorced, 25 years married, residing in Plymouth with his sister Celia A. Lombard. His wife, Sarah, returned to her first married name of Gove after the divorce. She died February 22, 1922 in Ludlow, Vermont. Marshall spent most of his adult life in Plymouth, Vermont, as a farmer, and town lister. He died August 29,1909.
