Biographical History

Louis J. Stellman was born on January 6, 1877 in Baltimore, Maryland. After briefly trying pharmacy, then telegraphy, he settled down at the turn of the century as a Los Angeles newspaperman. In 1902 he moved to San Francisco and worked as a reporter, then an editor, for the NEWS. He later became an editorial and feature writer for the BULLETIN. He wrote books and articles on the side and became a serious photographer.
