Biographical History

Order established in 1807; in 1870, seven Sisters of St. Joseph traveled from Carondelet, Missouri to San Francisco by railroad, then to San Diego by steamer, and to Tucson by wagon. They established the first hospital in Tucson (St. Mary's) and also established schools and orphanages.
