An organization known as the B.C. Electric Employees' Association operated as an independent union from the 1920s until 1955. In 1955 it became, through affiliation, Local 378 of the Office Employees' International Union. In 1964 the International changed its name to the Office and Professional [or Technical] Employees' Union.
