Biographical History

John King was a primary force in the development of Eclecticism. His medical writings and research resulted in new and effective treatments and drugs.

He served as professor in the Eclectic Medical Institute. King discovered and introduced podophyllin in 1835, and continued with macrotin, irisin, and established therapeutically many alkaloids later used in pharmacy.
