Biographical History

The first Circuit Court in Daviess County was established in July 1837 as part of Missouri's Fifth Judicial Circuit. Court was held at Elisha B. Creekmore's house near the county seat of Gallatin. The court became part of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in 1839 and moved to the Gallatin courthouse when construction was completed in 1843. The Circuit Court currently belongs to the 43rd Judicial Circuit.
