Biographical History

The firm of Bush & Lobdell was formed in Wilmington, De., in 1836 by Charles Bush and his nephew, George G. Lobdell, following the death of Bush's previous partner, Jonathan Bonney. The partners operated a foundry and machine shop and specialized in the manufacture of railroad car wheels. Bush died in 1855, and Lobdell incorporated the firm as the Lobdell Car Wheel Company in 1867.
