Margaret Ristaad (1877-1971) from Namsos, Norway, and August Loyd (1857-1920) from Helsinki, Finland, met in the United States. They married in Rawlins, Wyoming, in 1901 and had nine children: Henry (1903-1988), William E. (1905-1982), Agnes Helena (m. Elrod) (1906-1991), Mary E. (m. Malcolm) (1908-), Anna (1910-1929), Jackson 'Jake' (1911-1996), Lewis A. (1913-), Roy Preston (1915-1985), and Ernest L. (1917-). The Loyd family lived on a ranch near Laramie, Wyoming. Mary Loyd Malcolm remained in Laramie, where she was interviewed about the family’s history by Amy Lawrence in 1997-1998.
