Missionary; born Roger Williams Howes Holyoke, Massachusetts, July 7, 1898; went to China as a CIM missionary, 1925; involved in evangelistic work in Szechwan Province and Shanghai; later became the business manager at CIM's Chungking Business Department, 1932-1933; married Mary Fickett, 1929; worked to secure property on behalf of the mission in Chihshui, Kweichow Province; involved in evangelistic activities and Bible class teaching in Kweichow and Chekiang Provinces; became the Assistant Secretary of CIM Headquarters in Shanghai, 1939; interned by the Japanese at Chapei Civil Assembly Center in Shanghai, 1943-1945; worked as the district secretary in the CIM center in Chicago until 1947; served as Secretary for North America at CIM (later Overseas Missionary Fellowship) Headquarters in Philadelphia until 1965 when he retired to Tucson, Arizona; organized and led prayer groups and prayer conferences; taught at Bible classes; became a deacon in the First Baptist Church, Tucson, 1977; retired to OMF's Lammermuir Retirement Home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1991; died, 1993. Mary F. Howes: missionary; born Mary Anne Fickett, November 24, 1897; joined CIM and went to China, 1925; worked in Szechuan Province, 1925-1930; died, 1978.
