Biographical History
The Eureka Community Hospital Association was formed in 1955 in an attempt to build a hospital in Eureka, Mont. The group worked in conjunction with the Tobacco Valley Improvement Association to try to raise funds and to tackle the legal loopholes necessary to build a hospital. Federal legislation, however, dictated that the community was too small to support a hospital and the thrust of the group changed to obtaining a nursing home. The funds they raised and those raised by the Tobacco Valley Improvement Association were applied to that end and, with county assistance, Mountain View Manor was built. It is now full to capacity, and was turned over to and is at this time administered by the Lutheran Association.
