Biographical History

Eddie Hatcher (1948-2009) was a Lumbee activist in Robeson County, N.C. He and Timothy Jacobs said they held hostages at The Robesonian, the newspaper office headquartered in Lumberton, N.C., to draw attention to racism, drug trafficing, and poverty in Lumberton, N.C. and Robeson County. Hatcher was imprisoned a number of times and died in prison on May 1, 2009.
