Biographical History

Julia Hamilton Smith was a teacher in Washington, D.C. schools for over forty years. In 1947 she moved to Cambridge, Mass., to care for her brother, a successful physician. Smith was active in religious and civic organizations in Washington and Cambridge, including the NAACP and the Young Women's Christian Association.
