Biographical History

Teacher, genealogist, and S.C. legislator; born in Kingstree (Williamsburg County, S.C.) and a long-time resident of Charleston, S.C.; completed M.A. from University of South Carolina in 1951; Miss Gourdin was a member of the S.C. House of Representatives (serving, 1959-1962, from Charleston, in the 93rd and 94th General Assemblies); Gourdin held memberships in the National Society of Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the First Families of South Carolina, and the Huguenot Society.
