Fran Lee, 1910- (nee Frances Lederman), actress, consumer advocate and television personality, began her public career in the 1940s. In the years 1948-1949, she toured the United States as a member of the cast of Medea. Since the early 1950s she has made regular television appearances on a number of programs and has hosted several of her own shows. Appearing under such names as "Mrs. Fix-It", she provided household tips and consumer advice. As a consumer spokesman, she played a leading role in the enactment of the "pooper scooper" law in New York City. She was also one of the first public figures to openly discuss menopause, and was the founder of Menonomous, a support group for women in menopause.
