Dorothy Brannen (1905-1990) was a Bulloch County high school teacher and writer on local history.
Dorothy Brannen (1906-1990), earned M.A. in English at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (1951), Statesboro High School English teacher, author of several works on history of Bulloch County, Georgia.
Ms. Brannen speaks of her experiences in researching the history of houses and churches of Bulloch County.
Dorothy Vernon Brannen (1906-1990) was the daughter of Cecil W. Brannen (1883-1932) and Allie Olliff Brannen (1887-1965), and the granddaughter of James Alonzo Brannen (1858-1923). She graduated from Shorter College in 1927. She taught English at Statesboro High School for several decades and devoted herself to research into the history of her family and of Bulloch County. Her History of the Sea Island Bank appeared in 1976; J.A. Brannens Two Congressional Races, 1904 & 1906, 1981; Early Churches in Bulloch County, 1989; and her magnum opus, Life in Old Bulloch in 1987.
