Biographical History

Alan Wood was a 19th century iron and steel manufacturer. He was engaged with his father, James Wood (1771-1851) at the Delaware Iron Works in Wooddale, Del. (1826-32) and at Conshohocken, Pa. (1832-40). In 1840 he again began operating the Delaware Iron Works with his brother John as Alan Wood & Brother, and he purchased it in his own right in 1843.
