Biographical History

Minette Conrad Trosch was born in Chicago on November 3, 1942 and her family moved to Charlotte in 1951. She received a B.A. in Political Science from DePauw University, an M.A. in Political Science from West Virginia University, and, in 1995, a J.D. in Law from UNC at Chapel Hill.

From 1977 to 1983, Trosch served on the Charlotte City Council as the representative from district 5. In 1983, she ran as an at-large candidate and was elected to two consecutive terms before retiring from the City Council in 1987. During the 1983-85 Council term, Trosch served as mayor pro-tem. She also chaired several committees and served on the board of directors of the National League of Cities. Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Elizabeth Dole, appointed her to the National Hazardous Materials Transportation Advisory Committee.
