Biographical History

African-American sociologist, Alphonso Pinkney (1928-2006) was a nationally known expert on race relations. From 1961 until his retirement, Pinkney taught sociology at Hunter College where he served as chair of the Department of Sociology from 1975-1984. He authored seven books, contributed chapters to seven others, and wrote many articles for academic journals.
