Biographical History
Henry Robinson, merchant and law reformer, was first believed to have died around 1664, but according to the Oxford DNB he did not die until 1673. Robinson contended that he held the office of Postmaster-General from 'the first assembling of the Long Parliament' until 1644 and had increased its revenues during this time. Over the next several decades he and his family would petition the government for compensation for the improvements that he made to the postal service in England.
