Biographical History

Outward Bound was created by Kurt Hahn in 1941 as a program of survival training for seamen in the British Merchant Marines. After World War II, the program continued and expanded to serve men and women of many ages with an emphasis on presenting progressively challenging opportunities to build self-confidence. The Colorado Outward Bound School was the first Outward Bound program in the United States.
