Biographical History

Jacobi, a specialist in diseases of infants and children, was a professor (1865-1902) in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.

Abraham Jacobi is referred to as the father of pediatrics, having opened the first children's clinic at the New York Medical College in 1860, and the first children's ward at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was a professor of Pediatrics at the City University of New York from 1870-1902. Jacobi was also a co-founder of Association for Doctors for the Poor.
