Biographical History
Edwin Anderson Walker (b. Nov. 10, 1909, Center Point, Tex.-d. Oct. 31, 1993), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1931. During World War II he was a subunit commander, then commanding officer, Canadian-American First Special Service Force, in the invasion of Anzio, Italy and a key offensive in southern France. He again saw combat in the Korean War, commanding the 3rd Infantry Division's 7th Infantry, and was senior advisor to the First Korean Corps. He later became commander, Arkansas military district in Little Rock, and was involved in the civil disturbances during the desegregation of Central High School in that city. In 1959, General Walker was sent to Germany to command the 24th Infantry Division, but two years later became involved in controversy concerned with his conservative political views and resigned from the Army.
