Biographical History

Reverend Daniel Corrie (1777-1837) was nominated a chaplain on the Bengal Establishment and went to India in 1806. He was appointed Archdeacon of Calcutta in 1823 and in 1834, he was recalled to England and in 1835 was consecrated Bishop of Madras. He returned to India in the same year and died there in 1837. He was closely connected with the Church Missionary Society and established a number of schools in connection with the Society.
