Biographical History

The Society for the Promotion of Theological Education at Harvard University was founded in 1816, and designed to foster the teaching of theology at Harvard and to provide financial assistance to students. In 1831 it severed its official connection with the University and was reorganized as the Society for Promoting Theological Education.
