Biographical History
Founded in 1844 by Daniel V. McLean and others; subsequently purchased by first principal, Amos Richardson; in 1883 sold to a local group headed by Frank Chandler and Joel Parker; in 1900 sold to Col. Charles J. Wright who also used the property to operate the New Jersey Military Academy; in 1912 sold to Charles N. Duncan who operated both schools under the name Freehold Military School; ca. 1916 property taken over by the borough of Freehold, buildings dismantled, and an elementary school constructed.
