Biographical History

Librarian and writer. Linda Groom, the daughter of eminent conservationist and writer Arthur Groom, worked at the National Library of Australia from 1983 until her retirement in 2011. Groom was the Curator of Pictures from 1998 to 2010, where she was responsible for a number of important acquisitions, including the Wolfgang Sievers photographic archive and the Ducie collection of First Fleet art. She was also Chair of the 2008 VIVID photography festival held in Canberra, a nominator for the Prix Pictet photographic prize and the author of two books about First Fleet art.
