Biographical History

Nuclear physicist, professor of physics, and Dean of Graduate Faculties at Columbia University.

Pegram, a prominent nuclear physicist, conducted a great deal of defense-related research and was responsible for the famous meeting between Franklin Delano Roosevelt and American nuclear scientists prior to World War II that eventually led to the establishment of the Manhattan Project.
