Kiernan was the Superintendant of Circulation in the Harvard College Library 1877-1914. He received an honorary A.M. degree in 1892. He died 1914.

Stone was a well-known silversmith who worked in the Arts and Crafts style; an emigrant from England, Stone's shop was located in Gardner, Massachusetts.
