Biographical History

Edmund Battelle Taylor was born April 4, 1904, in Chicago, Illinois. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy from Annapolis on June 4, 1925, and had sea duty on battleships New York, Texas and Wyoming, and on destroyers Hatfield, Leary and Perry. He served as Commandant of the Fifth Naval District, Norfolk, Virginia from December 1963 to April 1966. Taylor retired at the rank of vice admiral on May 1, 1966.
