Biographical History

Randlett was very active in the Kansas Free State movement and was involved in the defense of Lawrence from border raiders. These accounts relate his experiences in the 1856 sacking of Lawrence, his activities as a spy among the raiders, the Battle of Black Jack, the dissolution of the Free State legislature in Topeka, July 4, 1856, and his captivity by Quantrill in 1862.
