Biographical History

Milo Hoadley came to San Francisco, CA, from Connecticut in 1849. He served as assistant deputy county surveyor and was elected state surveyor general in 1851. Hoadley was involved in negotiations for the water supply of the city of San Francisco, served as president of the San Francisco City Board of Civil Engineers (1862-63), and later practiced privately as a civil engineer. In 1864, Milo, along with Silas and James Hoadley, formed Hoadley & Co., Dealers in Native Sonoma Wines, and in 1867, Milo Hoadley organized the San Francisco Water Company along with James T. Boyd and John H. Turney.
