Museum curator T. Keilor Bentley was a friend of archaeologist Theresa Goell, best known for her excavations at Nemrud Dagh in Turkey. During the mid-1960s to mid-1970s Bentley was curator of the National Geographic Society's Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C.; the National Geographic Society was a sponsor of Goell's excavation work.
