Biographical History
Charles K. Field and Will H. Irwin were students at Stanford University in the 1890s and were authors of Stanford Stories (New York: Doubleday, Page, 1900), a collection of stories about student life.
Biographical/Historical Sketch
Charles K. Field was a member of Stanford University's pioneer class, graduating in 1895 with an A.B. in English. He wrote many of the school's early songs and yells and, with Will Irwin, published STANFORD STORIES; his book of Stanford inspired poems, FOUR LEAVED CLOVER, was published in 1899. He pursued a career in journalism and radio, broadcasting on NBC for 15 years as "Cheerio."
