Biographical History

Wurzbach (1874-1931) of San Antonio, Texas, began practicing law in 1896, then served in the Spanish-American War. In 1900 he moved to Seguin, Texas, where he was elected county attorney and, later, county judge. In 1920 he was the first Texan to be elected as a Republican representative to the United States Congress where he served until his death in 1931.

Harry McLeary Wurzbach (1874-1931) was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles Louis Wurzbach and Kate Fink. After graduating from the Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1896, he began practicing law in San Antonio. That same year, Wurzbach married Frances Darden Wagner. He served in the Spanish-American War and moved to Seguin, Texas. In 1900, Wurzbach was elected to the post of Guadalupe County prosecuting attorney and, later, county judge. In 1920, Wurzbach became the first Texan to be elected as a Republican representative for the 14th Texas District in the United States Congress where he served until his death in 1931.
