Organizational History

UCI Enrollment Services oversees the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools, the Center for Educational Partnerships, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Office of the Registrar and Student Academic Information Systems.

The Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools is responsible for the selection and admission of new freshman and transfer students. It also builds cooperative educational relationships between UCI and California schools and colleges.

The Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) builds partnerships with individuals and institutions to prepare K-12 students for the challenges of learning and academia, and at the university level to support undergraduate retention and enhance preparation for graduate school. CFEP also facilitates faculty involvement and provides teacher professional development.

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships provides students and their families with financial resources and information about scholarship opportunities. The office also offers individual financial counseling services. The office was previously named Financial Aids.

The Office of the Registrar and Student Academic Information Systems provides educational support services to the campus, including student services, academic records management, course scheduling, and degree and diploma processing.

1963 The Office of the Registrar and Admissions is founded under the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. 1967 Office of Relations with Schools founded under Student Affairs and the Office of Financial Aids/Placement is founded under the Dean of Students. 1971 Admissions, Financial Aids, Registration, and Recruiting Services placed under Administrative Services for Student Affairs. 1972 Registrar and Admissions report to Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. Financial Aids and Recruiting Services report to the Dean of Students. 1973 Office of Relations with Schools forms, reporting to the Admissions Officer. Registrar's Office begins reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. 1974 Educational Relations office created and, reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. Educational Relations oversees the directors of Student Affairs, Admissions, Relations with Schools, the Career Planning and Placement Center, and Financial Aids. 1975 Assistant Vice Chancellor of Educational Relations reports to Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. Oversees Studies and Research, Admissions and Relations with Schools, Career Planning and Placement Center, and Financial Aid. 1976 Vice Chancellor of Educational Relations renamed Assistant Vice Chancellor of University and Student Affairs. Oversees the Office of Development; Relations with Schools and Colleges; Financial Aid; Career Planning and Placement Center; and Grants, Studies, and Research. Admissions Office begins reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. 1977 Assistant Vice Chancellor of University and Student Affairs oversees Office of Educational Relations; Career Planning and Placement Center; Grants, Studies, and Research; Financial Aid; Relations with School and Colleges. 1978 Vice Chancellor of University and Student Affairs renamed Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. 1983 Admissions renamed Admissions and Outreach. 1984 Admissions and Outreach renamed Admissions. Relations with Schools and Colleges begins reporting to Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Student Academic Information Systems (SAIS) created and reports to Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. 1994 Enrollment Services formed under the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Oversees Educational Opportunity Program(EOP)/Student Affirmative Action(SAA)-Outreach, Admissions and Relations with Schools and Colleges, and the Registrar. 1995 Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs renamed Vice Chancellor of Student Services. Oversees EOP/SAA Outreach, Admissions and Relations with Schools, Financial Aid, Registrar and SAIS. 1996 Enrollment Services reformed under Vice Chancellor of Student Services. Oversees Admissions and Relations with Schools, the Center for Educational Partnerships, Financial Aid, and the Registrar and SAIS.
