Biographical History
1861 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, served as captain in the 1st Michigan Cavalry during the Civil War.
James S. Fisher, son of John and Elizabeth (Liscum) Fisher, was born in Cobourg, Ont., May 12, 1826; came to Detroit in 1837, and settled on Grand River near Schoolcraft. On May 10,1851 he married Lydia Abigal Bates; in 1852-56 he was in California gold mines; farmed in 1857-59; served in the Civil War; was graduated in law from the University of Michigan, 1861. After the war he lived in Michigan, until, 1867, when he removed to Utica, Mo., and died in Kansas City in 1913. (Fisher, Max M., comp., "Our Story") (blue index cards)
