Biographical History

Pannawonica was developed as a company mining town for the nearby iron ore deposits by Cliffs Robe River Iron Associates in the early 1970's, and was gazetted a townsite in 1972. By 2007 church services were shared by various denominations and held in the Roman Catholic Church in Pannawonica. Church of England services were held in Western Australia from the colony's inception in 1829. The Church of England in Australia was established in 1962 and, in 1981, became the Anglican Church of Australia.
