Biographical History

Victoria Booth Demarest was born into a family of evangelists: she was the grand daughter of William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and the daughter of Catherine Booth-Clibborn who pioneered the Salvation Army in France. Educated in Europe, VBD married Cornelius Agnew Demarest in 1918 and led religious revivals in the US and Canada with CAD as manager and accompanist. VBD inaugurated the "America for God Crusade" in 1934, preached to women on love, marriage and motherhood, founded the World Association of Mothers for Peace in 1946 and was ordained a minister in the Congregational Church in 1949. Additionally, VBD was a talented musician and author of religious dramas and homilies.
