The organization maintains communication with other AAUP chapters through state and national meetings and correspondence. It also facilitates discussions with state governmental leaders to provide a faculty voice on legislative issues facing higher education in Indiana.
Prominent issues of discussion and policy-making relevant to the IUB AAUP chapter as well as the larger national body include professional principles, salary policies, promotions, pensions and insurance, economic welfare, and academic rights. The Bloomington group includes various committees, including but not limited to: Executive Committee, Fringe Benefits Committee, Rules Committee, Library Committee, and Committee A-which advises and advocates for faculty colleagues and graduate students who claim violation of their academic rights.
