Biographical History

The Pacific Short Line was intended to consolidate the properties of three other railroads: the Nebraska and Western Railway, the Salt Lake Valley and Eastern Railway, and the Wyoming and Eastern Railway. The Nebraska and Western built a 129-mile line from Covington to O'Neill, Nebraska, which was transferred to the Sioux City, O'Neill and Western Railway, a GN subsidiary, in 1891. The projected consolidation did not occur.
