The Greater Philadelphia Movement (GPM) was established in 1948 to promote the social, economic, and governmental development of the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. The membership of GPM consists of executive personnel from various civic organizations in Philadelphia. The organization served as a extremely influential, high level corporate pressure group in diverse areas such as health care, justice, economics, business, and public administration. In December 1973, the organization merged with the Philadelphia Partnership to form the Greater Philadelphia Partnership.
