Biographical History

The E.H. Huenefeld Company was founded in 1872 when Ernst H. Huenefeld bought into a Cincinnati business owned by John Schroer. Later its name was changed to the Huenefeld Company. The company was a jobber of tin plate, and roofers' and tinners' supplies. The firm expanded into the manufacturing of stoves, ovens, washing machines and other metal products, including toy scooters and wagons. The company closed in 1966. The Huenefeld family also owned the Hotel Burnet Company and operated the Hotel Burnet, the Burnet House, the Alexandra Apartments and the Burnet Hall Apartments. They also owned the former Truman B. Handy residence on LaFayette Avenue as well as other property in downtown Cincinnati.

From the description of Huenefeld Company records, 1839-1963 (bulk 1890-1950). (Cincinnati Historical Library and Archives). WorldCat record id: 34712304
