Carr was born in Los Angeles, CA, on Oct. 17, 1903; BS, UC Berkeley, 1930; married Mildred Clarke, 1934; reporter, Portland Oregonian, 1922-26; research chemist and later research mgr., Union Oil Co., 1930-47; consultant, asst. dir. of fuels and lubricants division, and deputy dir. of research, Phillips Petroleum Co., 1947-65; served on Petroleum Industry War Council during WWII; author of various articles and 7 books.
