Sharp, Billy B., 1929-

Bill Sharp enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936, where he first joined CCC Company 1999, followed by Company 1936. Sharp spent two years in the Montana CCC before leaving in July of 1938 to join the US Navy. In 1972 Mr. Sharp decided to compile a history of the CCC and spent the next twenty years of his life communicating with ex-CCC members and their families, collecting letters, stories, mementos, photographs and other information on the CCC camps throughout the state of Montana. Throughout his life, Mr. Sharp spent his summers working for the Forest Service. During the 1970s and 1980s he dedicated his summers to working at Yellowstone National Park. Bill Sharp also devoted many years to researching the history of Fort Missoula in Missoula, Montana, and to compiling reference materials on the Fort and the GI's who served there.
